4. I run Cross Country and Track here and running isn't just a sport for me, its a true passion for me. I feel I'm a strong student of the sport of running. I also enjoy underground and lesser known hip-hop. I also love the outdoors,l I want to live and teach in Colorado in the mountains. I've gone backpacking out west several times and I love it every time I go out there.
5. I must trust the teacher. I must feel that even if I answer a question wrong or bring up a more abstract idea that I won't looked at negatively. I must also trust my peers that they are able to understand a more abstract idea or won't look down on me if I answer a question wrong.
6. I feel I am a student that is a active class participator if I have a teacher who actively tries to engage the class. If the teacher just lectures students all day I will become less active. I also feel I'm a student who prepares. I don't like going to class unprepared, so I always try to be as ready as possible for class discussions and other assignments.
7. Not that I can think of.
8. One of my most memorable moments as a student was my senior year when I was working with a 5th grade class for an education class. The teacher had me make afternoon spelling lessons. It was so cool to see students get really into my lessons and enjoy learning my material and then watching them succeed, it was that class that told me I really want to be in education.
9. Obviously the gap in spending is a issue that bothers me, but I think the government focuses too much on just allocating money, they need to focus on making sure the material taught is the highest it can be and that teachers' pedagogy is at its best. Too many teachers are under qualified but are unable to be fired or replaced because of tenure. I realize it seems highly impractical, even impossible, but either the federal or state government needs to pay attention to educators all the way to class level if they want to fix the quality gap in American education today. Simply reallocating money to districts isn't going to change how a teacher handles their students or how students view school.
10. Class discussions must be active among many students and all ideas must be accepted. The class must address the issues relevant to the course material we will be assessed on. The teacher must be accepting and open to class long discussions, provided they pertain to the material and don't impeded more important materials. The teacher must also be open for consultation outside of class, and must be able to teach to different styles and be open-minded and flexible.
